Team

James is co-founder and Managing Partner at NIV. He leads the firm’s research efforts, and is passionate about leveraging data to uncover new trends, inform investment decisions, and support portfolio companies. James has been a full-time crypto investor since 2018, and was previously Head of Research at Coatue Management. He holds an AB in Economics from Harvard.

Travis is co-founder and Managing Partner at NIV. Prior to founding NIV, he led investments at Digital Currency Group from 2015-2019, during which time he invested in over 100 crypto startups and protocols across dozens of countries. Travis started his career as an M&A attorney at Skadden Arps. He holds a BBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School, and a JD from the University of Michigan Law School.

Glenn is co-founder and Chairman at NIV. Previously, he co-founded the private equity firm Silver Lake. He is currently a director of AT&T, Co-Chair of the Brookings Institution, Chair of CARE, and Vice Chair of the Obama Foundation. He was a Director and Chair of Audit and Risk Committee of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 2011-2020. Glenn founded the Hutchins Family Foundation which has created the Hutchins Center for African & African American Research at Harvard University and the Hutchins Center on Fiscal and Monetary Policy at The Brookings Institution. He holds an AB from Harvard College, a JD from Harvard Law School, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Sam spearheads the firm’s public crypto efforts. He’s an avid crypto researcher and prolific writer. Sam channels over a decade of institutional investing experience into crypto. He was previously a senior investment analyst at BlueMountain Capital Management for eight years, and started his career in investment banking at Credit Suisse. He graduated with a BA as an Ivey Scholar from the Ivey Business School at Western University.  

Greg is a venture investor at NIV. Prior to joining NIV, Greg spent two years on the venture investing team at Galaxy Digital. Before that, he was one of the first employees at Hitco Entertainment, a PE-backed contemporary music and entertainment company. Greg holds a BBA in Finance from George Washington University.

Rob supports venture investing at NIV, focusing on due diligence, portfolio support, and sourcing. He previously worked on a crypto startup that he co-founded, focusing on on-chain retail investing. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Government from Dartmouth College.

Srini focuses on market research, protocol diligence, and building out portfolio risk infrastructure at NIV. He started his career as a quantitative analyst at BlackRock, where he managed risk for fundamental equity portfolios, developed stress tests, and researched risk factors. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Statistical Science and Math from Duke University.

Charles serves as a liaison between the investment team and the fund administrator, accountants, auditors, and investors. Previously, he spent six years at Merrill Lynch where he ran operations for a team managing $4B in assets. He holds a BS in Finance from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business, and an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Shivank is GC and Chief Compliance Officer at NIV. Previously, he was Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel at PineBridge Investments, a $140B+ asset manager. Prior to PineBridge, he was Counsel in the investment management group at Lowenstein Sandler. Earlier in his career, he was an Associate at McCormick & O’Brien, where he advised startups and venture capital firms on financings, M&A, and other corporate matters.

He has a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a JD from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.

David leads engineering at NIV, building out infrastructure related to crypto data and investing, and performing technical diligence. He previously spent three years at Oso, a Sequoia-backed startup building an authorization platform for developers, and prior to that was an engineer at Flatiron Health. He has a BS in Computer Science from Yale University.
